When Jesus came and brought the gospel of Christianity it was welcomed by the masses as exceptionally nice thing about it. Thousands followed him to hear the text of life that he spoke. After he was crucified, his disciples continued preaching and teaching his ways and so they were likewise welcomed because bringers of fine news.

Absolutely not citizens were thrilled only at that new teaching. The established religion for the day opposed it violently, even putting many to death for preaching the language of God. They whipped, beat, imprisoned and crucified a few who thought we would follow or teach the newest gospel. And yet in spite of the suffering inflicted, they couldn't destroy this teaching or halt the spread with this great news.

One of many charges laid from the early teachers with this gospel was they had, "Turned the planet upside down" using this teaching (Acts 17:6). Truly, the new teachings in the gospel of Christ were good news and tremendously powerful.

Many people encourage several things, but not many would decide to suffer abuse, torture, ridicule or perhaps die rather than renounce their beliefs. But such was the enormity and power of this nice thing about it.

Consider even the state of the apostles right after Jesus was put to death. These were subdued and meeting in Jerusalem, wondering how to proceed next after their Lord and teacher have been obtained from them. But then as they were gathered together at the time of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit using the power of God came upon them, transforming them into powerful and charismatic preachers with the great news. Peter stood up amongst the people and at his preaching that day, 3200 people looked to the Lord upon hearing the good thing in the gospel (Acts 2:14-42).



Such could be the strength of the preaching of Christ who's cannot be merely called good news yet it's "Great News". Nothing you've seen prior or since has there been a real message as powerful because the gospel and truth of Christianity.

What makes this message so powerful? In this world man is plagued effortlessly means of evil, both from the inside of and without. Man suffers at the hands of his fellow man and even more so at their own hands by succumbing for the desires of his flesh. Man suffers disease, sickness and death, often brought about by his or her own passions and needs. Man sins continually through lies, cheating, envy, jealousy and commits acts of murder, adultery, substance abuse, theft, insurrection and all types of wrongdoing. Because of these and a lot of other items, man is constantly in a condition of stress.

Just watch the night time news or pick-up a newspaper and you will probably start to see the sin and evil rampant nowadays that has man in its grip. It can be tremendously stressful to see or read these things. Pressure and tension build until most people attain the point where they wish it will all go away or they might escape the tension.

To be released because of this stress would truly be not merely great news, but Great News. And that's what exactly Jesus with his fantastic disciples offered in their teachings, and why the folks flocked to hear these words in the great news of the gospel of Christ.

The reality of the Gospel is approximately freedom, and it is on the market today just as it had been then though. What's promising from the gospel offers freedom from bondage, freedom from sin, freedom from stress and freedom from all the pressures on this world.
